The construction site is a temporary work place characterized by a sequence of working phases with very different tasks and activities. Environmental and organizational conditions are changeable and not always predictable, exhibiting many dangers and health risks. The high prevalence of occupational diseases and the mortality rate define the construction site as a "safety-critical work" and medical surveillance of workers is therefore required.
